Competitor analysis is carried out for several days based on the competitors. The end goal of competitor analysis is to understand backlink gap and content gap. It then becomes easier to predict sustainable growth. A blueprint is created after understanding how competitors are doing well compared to our (client’s) website.
- Backlink gap analysis (also known as Link intersect)
Backlink gap analysis is done using tools like SEMRush and Ahrefs. Both tools are used to find low-hanging fruits. Such backlinks are categorized based on their submission types and it is then given to the SEO team to acquire backlinks.
- Content gap analysis
Content gap analysis can give a clear idea of missing content. A content calendar is made based on content gap analysis. Oftentimes, the client is involved in the decision.
- Link velocity
Understanding the link velocity of 3-5 competitors can give you an idea of how fast they are building the links. Backlink gap analysis may not be sufficient to outrank the competitors as they are also constantly creating backlinks.
- Backlink research
Backlink gap is followed by backlink research. Individual competitors’ backlinks are researched and based on that a decision is made on what kind of backlinks are possible.
